Safe Space Center FAQ: Your Online Therapy Questions Answered
FAQ: Your Guide to Safe Space Center's Online Therapy Services
A consultation is a complimentary 15-minute conversation designed to help you determine if our online therapy services are the right fit for you. During this time, you can ask questions about our experience and approach while we learn about your concerns and background. Ultimately, the decision is yours!
We usually respond to consultation requests within two business days. If you haven't heard back within that time frame, please contact us again to ensure your message was received.
If you decide to proceed with Safe Space Center, we'll ask for your name, email, and date of birth, and you'll need to choose between insurance or out-of-pocket payment. Depending on your choice, you'll either provide insurance information or schedule your first appointment. If you decide not to move forward, we can offer referrals to other mental health providers.
Therapy is about self-exploration and understanding, so choose a service based on your preferred learning and communication style. We offer structured approaches (like cognitive-behavioral therapy), unstructured approaches (like psychodynamic therapy), or a mix of both. Consultations help you determine what's best for your needs.
It's okay if you don't connect with us! Use your experience to guide future searches, and we'll be happy to provide referrals for other mental health providers.
We accept various insurance plans and out-of-pocket payments. Visit our Services page for more information. For out-of-pocket payments, we accept major credit cards and Zelle transactions.
After you've opted for our services, you'll receive an email from our insurance operator, Alma, requesting your information. Within 24-72 hours (excluding weekends), you and Safe Space Center will receive your coverage, benefits, and responsibilities based on your insurance plan.
All admission papers must be completed before receiving services from Safe Space Center. Failure to do so may result in the cancellation of your appointment.
Your initial session will last 50-90 minutes and provide an opportunity to share your situation, history, strengths, weaknesses, and goals.
Subsequent 45-minute sessions allow you to discuss and process current situations and symptoms and learn tools to help you overcome challenges.
You and your therapist will decide how often to meet, with once a week being typical, especially during the initial stages of therapy.
Alma handles insurance-related matters, such as invoices and copayments. If you have questions or concerns about your insurance benefits, contact Alma or your insurance company directly.
You are financially responsible for late cancellation and no-show fees, as your insurance company will not cover these costs. Please adhere to Safe Space Center's cancellation policies.

School Consultations:
All meetings with school staff are currently conducted virtually or via phone. To coordinate appointment dates and times, it is critical for parents to provide Safe Space Center and the child's therapist with the school staff’s contact information (including name, email, and phone), or to copy the therapist in correspondence. If a parent schedules an appointment without verifying the therapist's availability, the therapist's presence cannot be guaranteed due to potential scheduling conflicts. The rate for school consultations is $215 (USD) per hour for meetings lasting over 15 minutes, invoiced in quarterly-hour increments
